Assoc. Prof. Kim specializes in population genomic analyses applied to genetic variations found within or between populations in order to infer demographic history of these populations. During her PhD training in Japan, she studied population genetics and evolutionary biology. As a postdoctoral researcher at Penn State University, her research extended to genomics, where she applied population analyses to whole genome sequence data. She joined ASE, NTU as a faculty member in 2016. Her research explores the genetic and ecological forces shaping life—from human health to sea turtle populations, plant evolution, and the surprising world of dung beetles.
